Call for Abstracts

The Organising Committee invites authors to submit an abstract for oral or poster presentation on topics relevant to the Conference Themes.

The online Abstract Submission Form must be fully completed.

Abstracts must comply with the instructions below. Please read them carefully before preparing your abstract.

Note:
“The abstract is of utmost importance, for it is read by 10 to 500 times more people than hear or read the entire article. It should not be a mere recital of the subjects covered. Expressions such as "is discussed" and "is described" should never be included! The abstract should be a condensation and concentration of the essential information in the paper.” (Landes KK. 1966. A Scrutiny of the Abstract, II - AAPG Bulletin 50: 1992-1999).

All abstracts must be original work.

Abstracts must be submitted by Friday 18th April 2008.

Abstracts must be written in English and should be prepared in Microsoft Word. Authors will be required to use a template document for development of their abstract. This template can be downloaded by Clicking Here.

It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure accuracy of content, spelling and presentation.

Abstracts should be formatted as per the instructions given in the template and should be on a single A4 portrait page with margins set to top: 2.54 cm; bottom: 2.54 cm; left: 3.17 cm and right: 3.17 cm. The abstract title should be a maximum of 15 words, not in all caps, should read as a normal sentence. The abstract text should be between 300 and a maximum of 450 words. Do not insert a header or footer.

Author should state if the presentation is intended to be oral or a poster.

ONLY ABSTRACTS SUBMITTED ONLINE WILL BE ACCEPTED. The online Abstract Submission Form must be fully completed. If you have already registered for the conference and wish to submit an abstract please CLICK HERE. Do not resubmit your abstract for any reason other than a submission error. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact the Meeting Secretariat.

Please print a copy of the online submission form for your records prior to clicking the submit button.

The conference organisers will not be responsible for abstract submissions not received via the conference website or for submission errors caused by Internet Service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or natural disasters.

It will be the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure that the abstract is supplied in full. Abstracts on disks/CD-Rom will not be accepted.

Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be returned to the author and must be resubmitted correctly by the deadline to be considered for presentation.

All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the Science Committee, which reserves the right to accept or reject abstracts for inclusion in the programme.

Authors are limited to giving one oral presentation. If you submit two abstracts for oral presentation as a presenting author, only the first submission will be considered for oral presentation. Any subsequent abstract submissions will be considered for poster presentations only. There are no restrictions on poster presentations or co-authorship.

Authors will be notified of acceptance/rejection in April 2008.

Presenting authors will also be required to register for the Conference. Accepted abstracts will be included in the abstract book only if presenters have registered no later than the 28th April 2008.

Successful authors will be required to submit their presentations and posters in advance of the conference and will be notified of the deadlines for submission.

Following the meeting it is proposed to publish the proceedings of the conference in a peer reviewed volume. If your abstract is accepted for oral presentation then you will asked to submit a full paper. Acceptance of full papers and poster abstracts for publication is contingent on peer review.
