The Royal Institution's building on Albemarle Street is Grade 1 listed. The newly refurbished Faraday Theatre has been fully redecorated, including the restoration of its rare Japanese wallpaper, with new seating, flooring, air conditioning, lighting and state of the art audio-visual equipment.

For over 200 years, the Royal Institution has been 'diffusing science for the common purposes of life'. A range of activities takes place under one roof, from school lectures to providing a forum for the general public, through to a heritage programme, an arts-science initiative, a media centre and state-of-the-art chemistry labs.

Travel

By tube - the closest station tube station to the Royal Institution (5 minute walk) is Green Park, on the Jubilee, Victoria and Piccadilly lines. Piccadilly Circus tube station on the Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines is a 10 minute walk away.

By bus – there are numerous bus stops along Piccadilly which runs along the entrance to Albemarle Street. Bus Numbers: 8, 9, 14, 19, 22 and 38.

By road - travelling to the Royal Institution by road is inadvisable as there is limited parking available nearby. Parking on metered roads is very expensive. If you do wish to drive, there are car parks at Marble Arch (NCP) and Old Burlington Street (APCOA). Please also note that the congestion charge also applies.
